2006-11-16u2002·u2002On most of the 7-way connectors there is indeed lock, it is the lid to the socket, If you look at the plug there is a 'Dorsal fin' (like a shark's fin) on the 'Top' of it, If you push it in far enough there is a catch on the 'inside' of the lid that will hook this 'Fin' and lock the plug into the socket. If you have the factory 7 pin connector there should be a tab on the opening cap that hooks on to and holds a tab on the trailer connector when it is inserted. You shouldn't be able to remove the trailer connector from the truck socket without having to lift up on the 7 pin cover to release it.
